The Spring season for getting fit is definitely here.  Urban Pole walking is a great way to get in shape and reduce the risks of injury or even rehabilitate an injury while doing so!  It is also a great way to get out and socialise with your fellow community members and to walk the great trails in Newmarket and East Gwillimbury.

Urban Pole Walking ensures an increased calorie burn by using both your upper body and lower body to workout.  In addition to this the poles aid in decreasing the ground reaction force by improving your posture and increasing your cadence.  Pole walkers will find that they are walking with a more upright posture while using more of their hip extensors which are under used especially with the massive amount of sitting a lot of us do with our occupations.

The proper poles are important for the position of your hands as you perform this repetitive motion, as well as the weight of the pole and the ability for the pole to navigate the force put through it during the pole walking motion.  To purchase a pair of walking poles and to set up your first session to learn the proper technique please contact [email protected] or click on the Request an Appointment link on our webpage.
