It is high time to register for Soccer if you are a resident in East Gwillimbury or Newmarket.  Physiotherapy is a great way to prevent injury this season or rehabilitate an injury to sport level of competition.  Physiotherapists agree that warm up is key in the prevention of a sports injury on the field or otherwise.  A good warm up paired with the proper equipment are just some of the keys to success.

Your Physiotherapist can help you and your coach put together a proper warm-up tailored to your individual needs to optimise your performance in your sport.

The Warm up should include:

  1. Increasing circulation with a light jog, shuffle, multidirectional run
  2. Stretching covering all major muscle groups and holding for at least 20 seconds.
  3. A contract and hold portion such as walking lunges, single toe raises, Russian hamstring ex.
  4. Plyometric – such as various jumps and hops

Ontario Soccer clubs often offer coverage (or additional coverage to those who have private insurance) to cover injury rehabilitation for those who have been injured during a club game while registered with your local community Soccer club.
